Pastorale I

The Pastorale I, a three-hand stainless steel watch, was Qin Gan's first official release in 2021. The modern design of the dial and case, the smaller dials as well as the painstakingly hand-polished and chamfered hands give this watch a look that is in no way similar to top international brands. The Chinese name of the watch originates from a poem written by a modern Chinese poet who chose a reclusive and minimalistic life at the Chinese countryside. The team handcrafted by intimate mechanisms for years, but eventually opted for a simple three-hand design for his brand's first product. In addition, the word 'Pastorale' comes from the title of Beethoven's Sixth Symphony, which is also why there were six watches in the first batch. The watchmaker only quickly received all the pre-orders for the first batch. These were placed online, mostly by people whom he had never met before.

The Pastorale I

Before Pastorale I, most of Qin Gan's work were designed with clear classical elements. But this piece has an interesting combination which also in favour of modernist aesthetics. Qin Gan considered his previous studies and explorations had mostly focused on antique watches from the 1930s and 1940s whose aesthetic was somewhat more traditional. To receive watch, these met many young watch enthusiasts - a lot of highly educated people from different professional backgrounds. Many of them are fond of the modern designs of independent watches. "These young people had a major influence on the fact that I designed the center with the international tastes in mind." Qin Gan went on to add "The 955 calibre produced in China in the 1970s was outstanding in terms of mechanical quality, but lagged decades behind the international standard in terms of artistry and visual effect." The creative concept of the Pastorale combines these in one.
